Meet the Team
Fresh Air Partners was founded by two people who lived through a mold disaster — and built the professional expertise to help others fight the same battles they faced.
James Browning, Esq.
Attorney — Licensed in New Jersey and New York
Before representing policyholders, James spent years on the insurance company side — evaluating claims, defending coverage positions, and learning the playbook from the inside. He knows how insurers assess claims, what language adjusters use to limit or deny coverage, and when an insurer is acting within its rights versus acting in bad faith.
He now uses that knowledge to level the playing field for clients facing denied claims, bad faith tactics, HOA disputes, and real estate transactions complicated by mold history.
James and Marissa faced their own mold disaster, and that experience made him a more effective advocate than any law school course ever could. He brings both the technical skill of a seasoned insurance attorney and the perspective of someone who has personally fought the battle his clients are fighting.
Marissa Liff, M.Arch.
Designer, Builder & Project Manager — Master’s Degree in Architecture
Marissa has managed every stage of mold remediation and residential rebuild — from the first air quality test to the final coat of paint. Her architectural training means she can read drawings, evaluate contractor bids, understand remediation protocols, and identify problems before they become expensive mistakes.
She knows what proper remediation looks like, which means she knows immediately when corners are being cut. She knows what a rebuild should cost, which means she knows when a contractor’s estimate is inflated or incomplete.
Having navigated a major mold event in her own home, Marissa brings both professional rigor and genuine empathy to every project. She understands that behind every remediation job is a family trying to get their life back.

Why We Work Together
Most mold victims face two separate battles: getting the insurance company to pay, and getting the house properly fixed. They typically have to coordinate two separate contractors to fight them — often without any way to evaluate whether either one is doing the job correctly.
Fresh Air Partners closes that gap. James handles the legal and insurance side. Marissa handles the physical side. You have one team, one point of contact, and two people who have been through exactly what you’re going through.
